Beloved 2000s Actor, 52, Reveals Unfortunate Health Update
One of the stars of the popular television series Euphoria and Grey's Anatomy has revealed a sad health update.
In an interview with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America on Monday, actor Eric Dane, 52, revealed that his right arm has stopped working as he continues to battle amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
"I have one functioning arm," Dane said. "My left side is functioning. My right side has completely stopped working."
Dane called the update "sobering" and noted that his left arm is "going" and believes that it could be a "few more months" before that happens.
But Dane isn't giving up and plans to keep on fighting.
"I don't think this is the end of my story," he said. "I just don't feel like, in my heart, that this is the end of me. I'm fighting as much as I can. There's so much about it that's out of my control."
The former Grey's Anatomy actor, who now stars in Euphoria on HBO, first announced his battle with ALS, also called "Lou Gehrig's Disease," in a statement to People Magazine back in April.
At the time, Dane said he would continue working and planned on returning to the set of Euphoria the week after his announcement.
"Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, known as ALS, is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord," according to Mayo Clinic. "ALS causes loss of muscle control. The disease gets worse over time."
Dane has two daughters, ages 13 and 15, that he shares with his wife and actress, Rebecca Gayheart.
