Rankings Name Best Fast Food Hot Dog Heading Into Summer
There's something so fitting about ordering a hot dog in the summer regardless if you're at a barbecue or a baseball game.
In honor of this summer, Tasty Food Stories has ranked the top seven best and worst fast food hot dogs. The original hot dog from Nathan's as well as the All-American Dog from Sonic Drive-In made the top five. Shake Shack and Five Guys also found themselves on the right side of these rankings.
That being said, the No. 1 spot belongs to the Portillo’s Chicago-Style Hot Dog.
The Chicago-Style Hot Dog from Portillo's includes peppers, pickle spear, mustard, relish, freshly chopped onions and tomato wedges.
"Portillo's has perfected this iconic dog, making it a must-try for anyone visiting Chicago," Tasty Food Stories wrote. "Each bite embodies the vibrant spirit of the Windy City, offering a taste that lingers long after. If you’re exploring the best hot dogs, this one sets the golden standard."
Tasty Food Stories also described this hot dog from Portillo's as "perfectly balanced and irresistibly delicious."
For those wondering why Portillo's doesn't put ketchup on their hot dogs, they said it's like putting a mustache on the Mona Lisa.
"Stick to the classic toppings and let the masterpiece shine," Portillo's wrote on its website. "Don’t worry though, we won’t judge if you choose otherwise."
The Portillo’s Chicago-Style Hot Dog kit is currently priced at $75.99.
