Emergency Services Districts partner to improve response in northeast Travis County
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Travis County Emergency Services Districts 4 and 12 are partnering to improve emergency fire and medical response for people living in northeast Travis County.
According to a press release, TCESD12 started providing fire suppression and emergency medical services out of a "newly renovated modular building—designated 'Station 1205'—owned by Travis County Emergency Services District 4 and located at 14312 Hunters Bend Road."
This is meant to address a critical service gap east of the State Highway 130 Toll, where Farm to Market 969 divides the two districts.
“Explosive growth along the eastern corridor of 130 Toll has made it clear that extra resources and staffing will be necessary,” said David Bailey, district administrator for TCESD4. “This partnership is a creative, short-term solution that allows us to better serve our communities while we plan for long-term infrastructure.”
Until a permanent TCESD12 fire station can be built to serve those outlying areas, this effort is meant to significantly improve response times and enhance emergency coverage for both TCESD4 and TCESD12.
