Johnson City PD seeking public help finding woman connected with attempted child abduction
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Johnson City Police Department is seeking public help to find a woman connected with an attempted child abduction that happened Monday.
The agency said on social media that the attempted abduction involved two children, which happened in the 300 block of N. Winters Furr in Johnson City.
According to police, one child was able to escape. The other was taken by the woman to a gas station off of U.S. 281. The child's father was notified and "safely recover the child."
The suspect then fled the scene, according to police.
On Tuesday, police shared images of the woman they said was a "person of interest." Police described her as being approximately 30 to 40 years old, has bright dyed orange/red hair and has multiple tattoos. One witness told police she had a State of Texas tattoo on her leg.
Johnson City PD said it coordinated with the Blanco County Sheriff's Office to initiate efforts in finding the woman. As of Tuesday, the search remained "active and ongoing."
If anyone has any information on the woman, they are urged to contact Johnson City PD or BCSO.
"Your help is critical. Let's keep our community safe," police said.
