The trio will return to write the upcoming film, which will mark the fourth in the franchise, with Jon and Hayden directing, and they will all also produce.
Jon and Hayden also directed the second movie.
Harold and Kumar actors John Cho and Kal Penn, respectively, are expected to reprise their roles as the titular characters. It’s currently unknown if Neil Patrick Harris will also return as a fictionalized version of himself.
“We’re fired up to bring Harold and Kumar back in a return to the unapologetically R-rated, smoke-filled chaos that started it all,” Jon and Hayden shared in a statement. “It’s high time they puff and pass their wisdom onto a new generation. Just don’t tell their kids.”
The last Harold and Kumar film, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, was released in 2011.
If you missed it, John Cho recently guest starred on an episode of Poker Face in season two, while Kal Penn starred alongside Snoop Dogg in the movie The Underdoggs.
