Several Secret Service agents were seen posted at several entrances outside the emergency room at the hospital where the secretary was admitted, according to the news outlet.
Kristi previously served as the governor of South Dakota and represented the state in Congress. She was selected as President Donald Trump’s Homeland Security secretary just days after he was elected for a second term. She was confirmed for the role by the Senate in late January.
Kristi is tasked with enforcing Trump‘s aggressive crackdown on immigration, including deploying troops to the border and deporting undocumented migrants. She also oversees the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and has called for the disaster relief agency to be dismantled.
