How Anne Burrell Found Her 'Prince Charming' Stuart Claxton on Bumble at 49
Anne Burrell, the fiery-haired chef known for lighting up kitchens and television screens alike, is being remembered not just for her culinary prowess, but for the love story she shared with husband Stuart Claxton.
After news broke of Burrell’s passing at age 55, tributes poured in from fans and family, including Claxton, her partner since 2018 and husband since 2021.
Their relationship had a modern spark. Burrell and Claxton met on Bumble, and he had no idea she was the star of Food Network's, Worst Cooks in America.
"When they made Anne, they broke the mold," he once told Today. "She was a wonderful surprise… When she sat down in front of me, I was like, 'Wow, she's so hot.'"
At the height of the pandemic in 2020, Claxton proposed while the two were quarantining in her hometown of Cazenovia, NY. He had thoughtfully asked her mother for permission first.

"I brought the ring," Claxton recalled. "We had a lovely dinner… I kept bringing the conversation around to our relationship."
For Burrell, the proposal was unexpected. "I mean, I am 50. It didn't seem it would be in the cards for me," she told Today. Focused for decades on her career, Burrell hadn’t prioritized marriage—until she met Claxton.
The couple wed on Oct. 16, 2021, in Cazenovia. Burrell fully embraced the magic of the moment. "I don't care about the cheese factor," she told People before the ceremony. “It’s my moment and I mean to have it.”
Claxton, a marketing executive and father to son Javier from a previous relationship, lived with Burrell in New York, along with their beloved cats Nancy and Lorraine. Their other cat, Marcia, died in 2024.
Theirs was a late-in-life romance, full of laughter, companionship, and deep admiration. It was cut all too short by Burrell's untimely death.
