One dead after SUV collides with concrete truck near southwest Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead after a collision between an SUV and a concrete truck in Franklin Township on the southwest side of Columbus.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred just after midnight Wednesday morning when a white 2018 Dodge Caravan was traveling westbound on Frank Road, approaching Hardy Parkway. At the same time an 2023 orange Western Star concrete truck heading east was approaching the same intersection.
The sheriff's office reports that the Dodge attempted to turn southbound onto Hardy Parkway, in front of the truck, and was struck along the passenger side. Franklin Township officers and Columbus Fire medics responded to the scene and found the Dodge facing east on the sidewalk of the southeast corner of the intersection.
The driver of the Dodge was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead at 12:44 a.m. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
