Hulu’s Latest Show Cancellation Sparks Fan Outrage
Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video have been in contention for the top streaming platform nationally.
But, changes keep coming to each of the platforms as far as the shows they offer.
Previously, Hulu announced a big decision on three shows in a surprising move.
The streaming giant decided to cancel three shows: How To Die Alone, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix and Solar Opposites.
How To Die Alone just finished its first season, but Hulu has decided not to bring it back for a second, which sparked a reaction from lead actress Natalie Rothwell, who is also the creator of the show.
“I am shocked, heartbroken and frankly, baffled that Onyx has decided not to move forward with a second season of How to Die Alone," Rothwell said, per Jack White of The US Sun. “This is a tough reality to accept because the show is an undeniable critical, creative and award-winning success.”
Fans also took to social media to express their frustration with Hulu's decision, with them saddened by the disappearance of How To Die Alone.
"How to Die Alone was soo good. @hulu it’s not too late to right your wrongs," one fan wrote.
"Bring How TO Die Alone back OR ELSE," wrote another. "So disappointing," a Reddit user replied. "This is terrible. I hope someone else can pick it up," said another.
"Noooo☹️ I really loved this show. It was so funny and very heartfelt. I was looking forward to more seasons. There’s so much more story to tell," another sad Reddit user said.
"Man. How to Die Alone is such a good show. Shame on Hulu for not renewing it," said another.
Wayne Brady: The Family Remix has just eight episodes available on Hulu and was released in July 2024, but this show sparked some mixed reviews in its lone season.
Solar Opposites is the longest-running show on the network. It came out in 2020 and has five seasons available on Hulu, but it won't be brought back for a sixth season despite lasting half a decade.
It will be interesting to see if another network picks up How To Die Alone, especially given the popularity.
