Caitlin Clark Doesn't Hide True Feelings on WNBA Officials After Incident
On Tuesday, June 17 Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was poked in the eye by Connecticut Sun guard Jacy Sheldon in the team's 88-71 win.
The eye poke sparked a series of scuffles, one of which led to the ejection of three players. After the initial contact from Sheldon on Clark, the latter pushed the former away from her, but received a swift hip-check that sent the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year flying to the floor.
One quarter later, with just under a minute left in the game, Fever guard Sophie Cunningham committed a hard foul on Sheldon, which sparked a brawl between the two teams with Cunningham, Sheldon and Sun teammate Lindsey Allen ultimately being ejected from the contest.
Following the game, Fever head coach Stephanie White suggesting "bad officiating" is a WNBA-wide issue and that "everybody [in the league] is getting better, except the officials." Her comment sparked strong reaction from Clark as the two were sitting together in the postgame press conference.
The Fever star smirked and shook her head in agreement with her coach as White tore apart the officials.

"I started talking to the officials in the first quarter, and we knew this was going to happen," White added. "You could tell it was going to happen. So, they've got to get control of it. They've got to be better."
Connecticut center Olivia Nelson-Ododa agreed the officials were to blame for the night's scuffles.
"Obviously, there was a physical game tonight. I think when things aren't managed well to begin with that it tends to get out of hand," she said. "I feel like a lot of stuff was escalating throughout the game, and that's what happens when you don't make the proper calls or officiate the game and manage it the right way."
Indiana will get a night off before facing the Golden State Valkyries on June 19.
