Women's Health Wednesday: Managing Tick Bites and Preventing Tick-Borne Illnesses
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Ticks are a year round concern for all of us when temperatures are above freezing, but they are certainly more active and prevalent during the warmer months.
The best way to prevent tick-borne illnesses, like Lyme disease, is by wearing tick repellent with the chemical, Deet, according to Dr. Jacqueline Weaver, an emergency medicine physician with the Albany Med Health System. To prevent ticks on clothes, Dr. Weaver also recommends using permethrin-based sprays.
