Circleville's Berger Hospital evacuated after reported fire
CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) – A Pickaway County hospital has been evacuated after a reported fire emitted smoke in the building.
According to a spokesperson from OhioHealth, the OhioHealth Berger Hospital in Circleville has been fully evacuated as a precaution due to reports of smoke originating from in the hospital’s basement.
OhioHealth said the Circleville Fire Department is on site and working with hospital staff to determine the source of the smoke and patients at Berger Hospital are being transferred to area hospitals, Circleville High School, or will be discharged if appropriate.
Many emergency vehicles are at the scene helping to transport patients and triage tents have been set up outside of the building. Residents are being asked to avoid Pickaway Street, North Ridge Street and High Street around the hospital.
OhioHealth said that there is no active fire it is working to determine the source of the smoke. The spokesperson said additional details will be provided as more information becomes available.
