TSA Warns Airport Travelers to Treat Agents With Respect
As summer travel officially gets underway, airport security lines will undoubtedly become a little bit longer, which can lead to stress and frustration. But that doesn't mean anyone should take that out on the Transportation Security Administration officer working to keep everyone safe.
The TSA exists to ensure the safety of all airport travelers, and their officers work hard to make that happen, even in the stressful, busy times. Amid the bustle of the summer vacation season, the TSA has issued a warning to all travelers about the importance of treating TSA officers with respect.
In a message shared on social media on Wednesday afternoon, the TSA sent a clear warning to all airport travelers, making it clear that any form of harassment, threat, or physical aggression toward a TSA officer "will not be tolerated."
In fact, that sort of behavior could lead to serious consequences.
"Your safety is always our priority. Respecting our teams as they make that happen is a must. TSA officers work hard to keep the skies safe. Harassment, threats, or physical aggression will not be tolerated. Such actions may lead to fines, arrest, or removal from the airport," the TSA warned in a social media post on June 18.
The TSA has jurisdiction over transportation security in the United States, including airports, commercial and general aviation, mass transit, freight rail, highways, pipelines, and ports, making it a vital agency, especially during busy travel times.
Even though the airport can be stressful and airport security isn't exactly fun for anybody, it's important to make sure you respect and listen to the TSA officers as they try to ensure everyone's safety in the most efficient way possible.
Not abiding by those rules and guidelines could cut your trip short or result in far more serious legal consequences.
