Julia Roberts Opens Up About Life With Rare Birthday Post
Julia Roberts just marked a major milestone, and gave fans a rare glimpse into her family life.
The actress shared a throwback photo of her youngest son, Henry, to celebrate his 18th birthday on June 18, calling him a "beacon of a boy" and her "golden boy" in a heartfelt Instagram post.
Roberts, 57, tends to keep her family life private, so the post—featuring a young Henry in a green hoodie staring straight at the camera—stood out.
"In the blink of a joyful eye this beacon of a boy is ⚡️ 18 ⚡️ I love you Henry," she wrote, using the hashtag #goldenbirthday.
The photo quickly grabbed attention, not only for its sentiment but because Roberts rarely shares pictures of her children. She and her husband, cinematographer Danny Moder, have long kept their family out of the spotlight. Together, they share Henry and 20-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus.
Roberts has spoken candidly over the years about the joy she finds in motherhood—and her decision to prioritize family over career after decades in Hollywood.
"By the time I had the success of my family life… I had been working for 18 years," she told British Vogue in January. "So I felt that I had the luxury. I didn't have to pick one or the other."
During a 2023 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Roberts said Henry was adjusting well to being the last child at home after his siblings left for college.
"I think it's a good 50/50 split," she said. "He's loving it. And I think he misses his people."
Roberts reflected on how grateful she felt to be able to hit pause on work when her children were young.
"It was easy to pause work life to nurture my home life," she said. "To be allowed the luxury of staying home and being with my family, I had a deep gratitude for that time."
Now, as her youngest turns 18, it's clear those moments still mean everything to Roberts.
