PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A fire has engulfed a home off of Northwest Skyline Boulevard in Portland, leaving only a single wall standing, authorities said.
Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue said they were the first respondents to the fire, which was reported just before 7 p.m. in the 21500 block of Northwest Beck Road. When firefighters arrived, the home was already engulfed in flames.
"Defensive operations were commenced utilizing alternate water supply tactics including water tenders to shuttle in water for extinguishment purposes," said a TVF&R spokesperson.
There were no injuries and the homeowners were away at the time of the fire, the spokesperson said.
TV&R was assisted by Scappoose Fire, ODF, Multnomah County Sheriff and Portland Fire and Rescue, the latter of whom also reported about the fire and shared images on social media.
PF&R said they responded after hearing reports that the roof of the structure was completely on fire, finding a black column of smoke emanating from the scene upon arrival.
After dispatching water tenders and other firefighting equipment at the scene, crews focused on containing the fire so it did not spread to surrounding properties or brush.
The roof completely collapsed during the course of the fire.
TVF&R took over the scene as the lead responding agency.
By around 7:15 p.m., the incident was "winding down," PF&R said on a post on X. Some water tenders were returned to their stations.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, officials said.
