Bobby Flay Gets Emotional About Anne Burrell
When Anne Burrell died, many people wondered what her fellow Food Network star Bobby Flay would say in tribute.
Flay posted a moving message about Burrell, 55, to his Instagram story on the evening of June 18.
“Worst Cooks in America was the funnest show on TV. All of your co-hosts (me included) were just alongside for the Anne Burrell ride,” Flay wrote.
“The greatest gift I got from AB was turning me on to a world of Maine Coon Cats (including Nacho)... a gift that I'll have forever.”
He included the hashtag #unforgettable, and shared a photo of Burrell holding cats.
Flay joins a chorus of Food Network stars in honoring Burrell after she was found unresponsive at her Brooklyn home on June 17. Her cause of death is pending, but TMZ is reporting that the 911 caller, her husband, reported that she may have suffered cardiac arrest.
"The news about Anne has truly shaken us. John and I are heartbroken. I can’t quite believe it — such a strong, vibrant, fearless woman, so full of life and love, could be gone so soon," wrote celebrity chef Rachael Ray in her own tribute to Burrell.
"Anne was a rockstar! I came to know her well through multiple seasons of Worst Cooks on Food Network, and she became so much more than a colleague," she added. Ray wrote that she served as Burrell's bridesmaid during her 2021 wedding to Stuart Claxton.
Flay has posted about his love for cats before on Instagram.
