NYC celebrates Juneteenth with Broadway performances, comedy, other events
NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City is celebrating Juneteenth on Thursday, the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S.
BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn is holding a free concert in Prospect Park’s Bandshell at 5 p.m.. Organizers are digging into the roots of the holiday’s historic Texas origins with Dallas-based musical performers and a DJ to open the night.
A best of Broadway performance will also be held in Times Square, with performances from 15 shows including “Real Women Have Curves,” “Wicked,” “Buena Vista,” “Social Club” and more.

- Jazz Jubilee @ Adler Hall, Upper West Side: jazz concert
June 28
- Lewis Latimer House, Flushing: free performances and STEAM activities
