Pirates Of The Caribbean Producer Teases Return Of Classic Characters In Much-Hyped Reboot
Pirates Of The Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer has teased that their could be some familiar faces when the franchise is rebooted in the not-too-distant future.
Rumours of a revival of the hit live-action Disney movies have been swirling for years now, with Jerry confirming last year that a revival was in the works.
At the premiere of his latest movie F1, the producer offered an update to Screen Rant, confirming: “We’re working on a screenplay. Hopefully we’ll get it right – and then we’ll make it. We really want to make it, that’s for sure.”
While he confirmed that the next Pirates film will be a whole “new take” on the swashbuckling saga, he teased: “[It won’t be] all new actors. We’ll have some back. I’m not going to tell you which ones – you’ll have to guess.”
Interestingly, his comments came just days after Orlando Bloom said he’d be up for making a return to the Pirates Of The Caribbean films, telling This Morning: “I can’t say anything at the moment because I really don’t know, but there’s definitely availability.
“I think they’re trying to work out what it would all look like, I personally think it’d be great to get the band back together.”
Orlando played Will Turner in the first three Pirates movies, and made a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it came in the fifth, released in 2017, alongside former co-star Keira Knightley.
However, one former cast member we probably shouldn’t expect to make a return is Johnny Depp.
During his infamous 2022 court case, the Captain Jack Sparrow actor insisted he would not even accept an offer of “$300 million and a million alpacas” to reprise his role in a future Pirates Of The Caribbean film.
It was previously reported that Emmy winner Ayo Edebiri could lead a Pirates reboot – though she later insisted these rumours were made up, and that she only found out about them at the same time as the rest of the world.
