Family's Shocking Disneyland Breakfast Bill Going Viral
Disneyland can be a magical place for families, but you had better be prepared to open your wallet.
Like many things these days, Disneyland is not cheap, as one father apparently found out this week. Monday evening, X/Twitter user @jrockandrollt, aka John “Rock & Roll” Tolkien, shared an apparent photo of the bill for his family of five from a Disneyland Princess Breakfast experience earlier that day.
Including the $150 tip Tolkien left, the total price was $937.50, a seemingly outrageous price.
"Princess Breakfast’ at Disneyland with my kids. Almost spit out my coffee." Tolkien wrote alongside the picture.
According to the official Disneyland website, the Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures experience in the Grand Californian Hotel enables guests to have a three-course meal while also interacting with various Disney princess characters, like Belle or Mulan.
Food offerings for the event include three-tier towers of appetizers such as Chef Louie’s Mini Lobster Roll and Princess Jasmine’s Banana Wrap, main course options like chicken and Mickey waffles for children and maple turkey sausage with caramelized pears and figs, braised short ribs with balsamic cipollini onions and truffle mac & cheese for adults and a wide variety of desserts.
Tickets are $142 for adults and children, so when you multiply that by five, add in tax and Tolkien's tip...yeah, almost $1,000 sounds about right.
"I think if someone went to Disneyland and insisted on doing All The Things they could easily spend $3,000 per day," Tolkien wrote in a subsequent tweet.
Tolkien's post elicited shocked reactions from social media users. In another photo, he showed off his own meal, which included shrimp cocktail, macaroni and cheese, asparagus, deviled eggs and some type of beef, saying that the food was "good" but the price was eye-opening.
"I’ll just take a gas station burrito & sugar-free Red Bull and hang onto the remaining… $930," he joked.
