NFL Legend Involved in Huge Brawl at Poker Event
A former NFL superstar was recently spotted in the middle of a massive brawl over a game of poker.
The incident began at the JokerStars social club in Houston, Texas. Former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was at the venue playing poker with friends.
The former MVP told TMZ Sports that he and one of his friends were involved in a disagreement that led them to eventually come to blows with another man.
Someone attempted to separate the ex-player from the other person, but their fight spilled throughout the venue. After the two were eventually separated, they were both spotted with blood and bruises on their faces.
Peterson said that alcohol played a part in the situation getting out of hand, but that he and the other man have been able to smooth things over.
"Me and the guy, we're cool," said Peterson.
"We've known each other. It was literally like a brother situation. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows -- and that was it."
Cops weren't called and the venue didn't punish either man for the fight, but Peterson says he still "regrets" that it happened in the first place.
Peterson's foray into poker is his latest venture afer football. He's been a celebrity boxer, losing to fellow former NFL star Le'Veon Bell in his first and, to date. only exhibition match.
The former Oklahoma Sooners running back entered the league in 2007, as scouts compared him to Hall of Famers and current stars from around the league. He lived up to the hype that year, winning the offensive Rookie of the Year crown.
Peterson would go on to make seven All-Pro teams, earn seven Pro Bowl selections, lead the league in rushing three times and even broke the single-game rushing yard record.
He also competed on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," but finished in 11th, failing to reach the same success as past athletes on the show. We'll see how Peterson's foray into poker continues over the next several weeks and months, and whether or not he'll need to rely on his boxing training again.
