Inter Miami CF legend Lionel Messi didn't disappoint at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on June 19, stunning fans and the television announcer with a "genius" free kick.
"Messi scores a GORGEOUS free kick goal and @InterMiami are now leading 2-1 versus @FCPorto!," the X page DAZN Football wrote on June 19, sharing a video of the goal.
"It's a stunning free kick from Lionel Messi. Precision at its best. You can never write him off. Genius," the announcer said in the broadcast.
Fans praised Messi on social media. "Just going about his GOAT business," wrote one person on X. "Messi on Fire tonight," wrote another fan.
"He's marvelous," wrote another X user. Many fans posted photos of Messi with goats.

According to Diario AS, the ball was placed "slightly left-of-center," when Messi "wrapped his famous left foot around the free kick and whipped it into the top corner."
Fans erupted after the free kick.
"Cue bedlam at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium," the site explained.
When he made the free kick, Messi had "already seen team-mate Telasco Segovia cancel out Samu Aghehowa's opener just after half-time," DAZN reported, and he "missed a 35-yard attempt only moments prior himself."
But he recovered in a big way, with a free kick being called "dazzling," "fantastic," and "sublime" by observers.
