More summer heat and humidity Sunday, storm chances increase next week
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - Heat and humidity kept rain chances low through the day Saturday. A few storms will linger through the evening hours before all rain comes to an end. Temperatures tonight will settle in the 70s with sticky air. A few clouds will hang in the sky through the nighttime hours.
Sunday will start out more steamy air and temperatures warming fast. By midday, many areas will be approaching, or even reaching, 90 degrees with plentiful sunshine. In the afternoon, highs reach the mid 90s with a feels-like temperature around 105 degrees. A few storms will form up to help cool a lucky few areas off.
The tropics are quiet and no development is expected through the next 7 days.
This next week will see increased rain chances as multiple disturbances roll across the area off the Gulf. This will lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall possible at times midweek. The increased rain chances will continue through the end of the week before we dry out by the weekend. Highs will stay closer to the 90 degree mark.
