Kuwait Airways Abruptly Suspends All Flights From Kuwait
On Monday, June 23 a big international airline abruptly canceled all flights departing from Kuwait amid tensions in the region.
Kuwait Airways announced it suspended all flights from the country suggesting the weather played a role in the decision. Earlier in the week, Dharar Al-Ali, the Director of the Meteorology Department warned that Kuwait will experience a period of hot, dusty, and windy weather beginning Monday.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency, Al-Ali said that active northwesterly winds will affect the country starting Monday which were expected to stir up dust in open areas while reducing visibility. Winds in the area were expected to reach up to 40 miles per hour with temperatures climbing well over 100 degrees.
"Due to developments in the region, flights departing from Kuwait have been suspended. The weather conditions are being monitored and evaluated. Any updates will be announced in this regard. We hope everyone will follow the news from the official channels of Kuwait Airways. We ask God to protect Kuwait and its people from all harm," Kuwait Airways said in a post translated by Economic Times of India.

Kuwait Airways wasn't the only airline alerting its travelers to potential changes in the Middle East this afternoon, though.
"In view of the evolving situation in the Middle East, some of our flights may experience delays or diversions. These adjustments are being made to ensure operations remain within safe and compliant airspace. We recommend checking your flight status regularly. If your flight is impacted, alternate options can be easily explored through our website. We continue to monitor the situation closely in coordination with the relevant authorities. We appreciate your patience and understanding," IndiGo said in a statement on social media.
Neither Kuwait Airways nor IndiGo directly mentioned a recent attack from Iran on a United States base in Qatar as the reason for their travel announcements.
