6/24/2025: Another day of dangerous heat
The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:
High pressure still in place over the Northeast, keeping us bright and sunny, and allowing heat and humidity to continue to build.
In the river valleys, high temperatures surge into the mid 90's once again. In Albany, our forecast high of 96 would tie the record for the day. With the humidity factored in, it'll feel more like the triple digits.
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for the Capital District, the Hudson Valley, and parts of the Taconic Hills. The National Weather Services advises that you drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Most of the rest of our region is under a Heat Advisory.
The one saving grace - and it's not much - is that a bit of a breeze will pick up this afternoon. Gusts of 20 to 25 miles per hour won't make it feel comfortable, per se... but it may take just a little bit of the edge off the heat.
Another warm night is ahead, with lows failing to drop below 70 in most spots. When that happens, if you don’t have access to A/C, your body doesn’t get a chance to recover from the stress it take on during the heat of the day. That makes it all the more important to avoid overexerting yourself. Wednesday is still hot and muggy, but a little less intensely so - highs in the upper 80's with one or two pop up showers or storms.
Clouds and showers keep us much cooler for Thursday and Friday, with highs in the mid 70's. Not necessarily nice weather, but certainly some welcome relief from the heat.
Warmer and muggy for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, with shower and storm chances as well. Summertime is here, and it means business!
