70-year-old hiker dies after fall at Kaaterskill Falls
HAINES FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A 70-year-old Illinois man was pronounced dead at the Kaaterskill Falls Access trail Friday after a reported fall, the Department of Environmental Conservation said. Forest Rangers responded to the call around 6:45 p.m.
According to the DEC, rangers responded to a call for an injured hiker. Upon arrival, they located the man with serious fall-related injuries.
Rangers as well as emergency medical services gave the hiker immediate treatment and began to bring him back to the trailhead. However, as they began to stabilize him for helicopter transfer, the hiker died from his injuries.
The DEC will not be releasing the victim's name as of Monday morning.
