This Unexpected State Just Dominated Yelp’s Top 100 Food Trucks List
There's no better feeling than ordering at a food truck. The industry first saw a surge in the late 2000s, with its popularity spanning across the United States since then. And with loads of hungry customers, comes lengthy food reviews on Yelp. The customer review platform just launched its Top 100 Food Trucks List of 2025 in honor of National Food Truck Day on June 27 — and you may be surprised at which state completely dominated.
Turns out, Hawaii is the place to be for solid food truck eats. The Aloha state was featured a whopping 25 times on the list, with the No.1 overall pick being Tony's Catch in Kapa'a, Kauai, Hawaii. The menu features locally sourced seafood in dishes such as fish tacos, poke bowls, and ahi tuna tostadas. The third spot is occupied by Taco Libre in Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii, which offers meals like stuffed french fries, pork al pastor, and carne asada.
The showcased foods range in everything from smokey barbecue ribs to sweet Mexican-inspired hot dogs. Taking over at No.2 is Jim's Smokehouse in Austin, Texas, No.4 Jojo's Hot Chicken in San Jose, California, and No.5 La Jaliscience in Santa Nella, California.

Following Hawaii's top spot is California with 22 food trucks on the list, while Oregon and Texas are tied at 15 food trucks. Los Angeles, California occupied six spots, with the popular Nico's Burgers sitting at No. 10.

Based on these results, Yelp has determined that comfort-food fusion is trending, with reviewers visiting eateries that present multi-cultural dishes and traditional comfort foods. To compile the list, Yelp took note of businesses who were in the food truck category and ranked them based on a "number of factors." As of March 24, 2025, all businesses participating in the list have been identified as achieving a passing health score.
