Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Kids, Family Have Strong Reaction to Verdict
The family of Sean "Diddy"’ Combs expressed joy as Combs’ trial came to a close today and a verdict was reached.
The case ended with a mixed verdict. The jury found Combs guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, but he was acquitted on the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
According to CNN, as Combs was led out of the courtroom, he faced his family and said, “Thank you. Love you, Mom. I love you. I love you. I love you.”
Combs’ family and friends erupted into applause and wiped tears from their eyes.
After Combs left the courtroom, the family section started chanting “dream team” to Combs’ lawyers. Combs "got down from his chair and knelt on the floor after the verdicts were read, appearing to pray," ABC News reported.
Combs’ is the father of seven children with four different mothers.
USA Today reports that all of Combs’ children were present during the trial, showing support for the music mogul. Combs' kids Quincy Brown, Justin Combs, Christian Combs, Chance Combs, D'Lila Combs, and Jessie Combs were all seen in court, as was his mother, Janice Combs.
CNN reports that during the trial, Combs’ son, Justin Combs, was allegedly removed from court for wearing a shirt that showed support for his father. He was later allowed to return in a different shirt. Justin, 31, is the rapper’s son with fashion designer Misa Hylton.
Earlier in the trial, Combs’ twin daughters, D’Lila and Jessie Combs, 18, and their sister Chance Combs, 18, left the courtroom in tears before male escort Daniel Phillip delivered his testimony, according to The New York Post.
His mother, Janice Combs, has shown support for her son throughout the trial, releasing a statement earlier in the year in which she said that she was “devastated and profoundly saddened by the allegations made against her son.”
In a video from AFP News Agency, she waved and flashed reporters a thumbs-up sign as she left the courtroom after the verdict.
NBC News reports show that when asked how his father was feeling, Christian Combs said, "Great."
His daughters added that he was happy.
According to NBC News, when it was explained to the family that Combs could still face up to 20 years, the family was less excited, but still looked joyful as they left court.
