Beloved Pizza Restaurant Announces It Will Permanently Close July 11
Summer is usually a great time for thriving restaurants, because people tend to be out later than normal and eat out more often. But, this summer is also bringing quite a few restaurant closures.
Looking at national restaurants, places such as Ruby Tuesday, TGI Fridays, Boston Market and and Golden Corral have suffered closures. For Ruby Tuesday, specifically, MSN reports that "analysts predict 2025 could be the year the chain shutters its remaining locations. Despite efforts to modernize, competition from fast-casual dining has proven too tough to overcome."
But, it's not just the big chains that are suffering. Local restaurants are getting hit, too. Now, one local pizza spot has announced that it's closing, and it's final day is July 11.
The Foolery, a restaurant located in downtown Grand Rapids, MI, took to Facebook Wednesday, July 2, to announce that it's closing. But, the good news is that they'll focus on their sister businesses, Social Misfits and Misfit Social Coffee Club. The closure happens less than two years after The Foolery opened.
"The Foolery was a blast," the Facebook post read. "We set out to build a nostalgic, unhinged destination for all-time good times, and we did. The post added, "But continuing to operate it would limit our ability to give the rest of our brand family the attention and energy they deserve."
The Foolery first opened in December 2023 and specialized in making scratch-made Detroit-style pizza and unique, craft alcoholic beverages. "Thanks to everyone who partied with us, worked with us, and helped make this place something unforgettable," the Facebook post added.
"So sad to see this, love your food! But also love misfits and will be going there more often," one commenter stated.
Before The Foolery, the spot where the restaurant is located was a Wahlburgers, which closed in 2023. Coincidently, that restaurant also closed after less than two years in operation.
