'The Golden Bachelor' Host Jesse Palmer Reacts to New Star Mel Owens' Controversial Comments
Jesse Palmer is speaking out in response to the controversial comments that upcoming The Golden Bachelor star Mel Owens made about being on the show.
The 66-year-old former NFL player, who became a lawyer later in life, is not opening to dating a woman his age. Mel said in a new interview that he vowed to eliminate any woman over the age of 60.
“‘If they’re 60 or over, I’m cutting them,’” Mel told a producer of the show. He also added, “This is not The Silver Bachelor, this is The Golden Bachelor.”
Now, the host of the show is responding.

Jesse confirmed that the season has not yet begun filming.
“I’ve seen the headlines, obviously, because I’m on social media. I have not heard the podcast,” Jesse told Us Weekly. “We haven’t started filming Golden yet, so I haven’t spent a ton of time with Mel. The small amount of time I have spent with him, he seems like a good guy. But I know I’m gonna get to spend a lot more time with him pretty soon. I’m sure that’s something we’re going to talk about.”
