Mamou resident charged with possessing child sexual abuse material
EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- A Mamou man has been arrested for allegedly possessing over 10,000 images of child pornography.
In June of 2025, the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP/SVU) began an investigation into the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, which resulted in the arrest of James O’Reily, 18, of Mamou.
Officials said the case was initiated after the LSP/SVU began an investigation regarding the sexual exploitation of a minor, including possession and distribution of multiple videos of child sexual abuse material.
Today, officials executed a search warrant at O’Reily’s residence. Officials said during the search warrant, approximately 13,000 images were discovered.
O’Reily was charged with pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 and processed into an Evangeline Parish Jail. Additional charges are pending following the forensic examination of several electronic devices found at the scene.
This case remains under investigation.
