Is UPS or FedEx Open or Closed on the Fourth of July 2025?
Some people may need to mail a letter or package, get copies, or any number of other activities. Just because the Fourth of July is a federal holiday, doesn't mean people won't have those needs. That's especially true because July 4 falls on a Friday in 2025.
However, the U.S. Postal Service is closed on the Fourth of July. That leaves UPS and FedEx. Are they open or closed on July 4, 2025?
UPS is closed on the Fourth of July. It's one of the few holidays that UPS recognizes, according to its website. "UPS is closed on New Year’s (Jan 1), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan 20), Independence Day (July 4), Thanksgiving (Nov 27), and Christmas Day (Dec 25)," the UPS website says.
However, there might be a slight glimmer of hope. The UPS calendar for 2025 does say that some "limited" locations might be open on July 4, so it's a good idea to at least call.
What about FedEx?
Generally, FedEx locations are closed on July 4, according to the company's website, although there are a few limited exceptions.
FedEx Custom Critical locations are open. The FedEx Office has modified hours. The other FedEx locations are listed as closed on the Fourth of July.
FedEx also lists most locations as closed on its 2025 holiday calendar.
As noted, don't expect to find the post office open either.
"Post Offices will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2025, in observance of Independence Day. There will be no mail delivery, caller service or Post Office Box service. All services resume on Saturday, July 5. The Post Office will be open regularly scheduled hours on July 3," the website for the U.S. Postal Service says.
Customers "who wish to purchase stamps, mail packages, or ship urgent letters or packages on July 4 may use the Self-Service Kiosks available at select post offices. The ATM-like kiosk accepts credit or debit cards only and can handle about 80 percent of typical postal transactions – like weigh packages and dispense postage for Priority Express, Priority, First-Class and Parcel Post mail. Self-Service Kiosks are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week," the post office adds.
