The New Costco Bakery Item Shoppers Are Stocking Up On
The Costco cart better have room for this new bakery item. Recently spotted by eagle-eyed shoppers, a favorite Danish has been transformed into the must have treat of the summer.
Up and down the warehouse aisles, Costco shoppers have a plethora of delicious dinners, fabulous finds, and savory steals. Pouring over the monthly instant savings book might start the shopping list, but new discoveries find their way into the basket.
Danishes have been a long-time bakery favorite. Bringing together flakey pastry, a fruity center and just the right amount of sweet icing have people’s mouths watering.
When the cherry Danish returned in 2023, the enthusiasm was overwhelming. Whether eaten straight from the container or slightly heated in the air fryer, people could not get enough of it.
Now, the beloved fruit Danish has a new twist. The Kirkland Signature Cherry and Cheese Danish Braid has been spotted in the bakery, and it is flying off the shelf.
According to Costco, the all-butter Danish dough surrounds a generous layer of cherry filling and cream cheese. It is topped with a streusel and icing.
Instagram is buzzing over this new food. Comments include “loved it” and “if Costco was open right now, I’d be on my way.”
The combination of a sweet, tart cherry with a smooth, tangy cream cheese is not necessarily a new idea for Costco. The difference with this bakery item is the format.
The “braid” is more like a long loaf, which allows people to choose their portion size. Whether people want just a taste or prefer a significant slice, the customization is another reason why this new Danish soared in popularity.

While the overall response is positive, a few people wished that Costco skipped the cream cheese. Unfortunately, non-dairy eaters will have to skip this treat.
Could an almond version of this flakey Danish braid be next? That flavor would definitely have people cheering.
