Third annual Blueberry Festival returns to Bennington
BENNINGTON, Vt. (NEWS10)-- The Apple Barn and Bake Shop is hosting its third annual Blueberry Festival on Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival will have several family events, including free blueberry picking, a scavenger hunt, a bake off, live music, samplings and more.
According to organizers, the event is designed to highlight farmers, traditions and the community coming together. Apple Barn and Bake Shop owner Sarah Albright said the first blueberry festival they held in 2023, spoke to the potential of her business and brought joy to the Bennington community.
"Seeing families and community members enjoying our space inspired me to continue hosting events that connect people to our farm and the amazing products produced right here in Southern Vermont," Albright said.
The festival kicks off with free blueberry picking in the fields behind the barn, with activities across the property.
Entries for the Blueberry Bake-Off must be submitted by noon, and the winner will be announced at 4 p.m. The winner will receive $150 and a year's supply of cider donuts.
The Apple Barn will be offering homemade barbecue with other local businesses offering a variety of food from authentic Mexican food from Letty's Mexican to small-batch sweets from local vendors.
Overflow parking will be available the day of at the Bennington County Sheriff's Department, with a shuttle service to and from the barn.
The Apple Barn is located at 604 US Route 7 S in Bennington. The festival is free to attend and open to the public.
