Most Popular Soda in U.S. Revealed in New Study
A new study has revealed the most popular soda in the United States.
The study was done by Power Brands and used data from Google Trends. The beverage consulting company went state-to-state to find out which soda was ranked tops in each, according to Emily Hunt of AllRecipes.com.
Leading the way was Coca-Cola, which ranked No. 1 in 14 different states. That was five more than the next-closest drink, Dr Pepper, which ranked second with nine No. 1 finishes throughout the country.
Coca-Cola managed to score top honors in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Indiana and Nevada.
Dr Pepper finished tops in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, West Virginia, Idaho and Alaska.

Rounding out the top five was Sprite (six states), Pepsi (five states) and Mountain Dew (four states), from No. 3 to No. 5, respectively.
Fanta was next with three states ranking it as the best, followed by Canada Dry and Kool-Aid, which were No. 1 in two states each. 10 other drinks landed the top spot in one state each, including A&W Root Beer and Orange Crush.
A handful of companies not known for carbonated beverages saw wins in one state apiece, including Dole, Welch's, Ocean Spray, Tropicana, Minute Maid, Arizona Iced Tea and Lipton Iced Tea.
