Milestones: Good news about Marin people
Scholarship: The Marin Garden Club awarded $5,000 scholarships to six graduating Marin County seniors intending to study the environment, horticulture or conservation: Grace Underwood Bowler, from Novato High School; Tessa DeLay and Emily Hitchcock, from Redwood High School; Jake Forman, from Tamalpais High School; Paige Macy, from the Branson School; and Alexander Rossi, from Archie Williams High School.
Scholarship: The Scholarship Committee at The Redwoods awarded $4,000 scholarships to graduating Marin County seniors Grace Underwood Bowler, Dhanya Subramanian and Bertha Velazquez, all from Novato High School; Tia Asleim and Edy Ramos, from Terra Linda High School; Jake Forman, from Tamalpais High School; Disha Divakar, from San Marin High School; and Stella Smoot, from Archie Williams High School.
Graduation: Georgia Brown and Drew Stimson, both of Tiburon; Sebastian Ghosh, of Mill Valley; and Connor Grand, of Corte Madera, graduated from Hamilton College. Brown and Stimson both received a bachelor of arts in psychology; Ghosh received a bachelor of arts in economics and sociology; and Grand received a bachlor of arts in geosciences.
Graduation: Kieran Loftis, of Sausalito, graduated from the College of William & Mary with a bachelor of science in chemistry.
Graduation: Alexandra Merigian, of Corte Madera, graduated from Quinnipiac University with a master of health science in pathology.
Scholarship: Fairfax Parlor 307 of the Native Sons of the Golden West awarded $1,000 scholarships to Marin college students A.J. Aguilar and Nicole Murphy, both of Fairfax, and Robin Stranton, of Woodacre.
Dean’s list: Morganti Bello, of Corte Madera, was named to the dean’s list at Salve Regina University for the spring 2025 semester.
Graduation: Emily Pelle, of San Rafael, and Andrea Vargas Calvillo, of Tomales, graduated from Stanislaus State. Pelle graduated with a bachelor of science in biological sciences, and Calvillo graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration.
Recognition: The Lark Theater in Larkspur was awarded the 2025 Spirit of Marin Small Business of the Year Award from Bank of Marin and the Business of the Year award from the Larkspur Chamber of Commerce. The theater will be recognized at the Spirit of Marin awards ceremony on Sept. 26 at the Clubhouse at Peacock Gap in San Rafael.
Recognition: Jim MacDougall, of the Novato Fire Protection District, and Sgt. Sean Sinnott, of the Novato Police Department, were awarded the Rotary Club of Ignacio’s Service Above Self Awards.
