Summer storm chances continue this week
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - Severe storms rolled through Acadiana Sunday afternoon bringing damaging winds, large hail, and flash flooding. The storms will settle down and overnight will see quiet weather with temperatures in the 70s.
Monday will start out with quiet weather as temperatures rise fast. Highs reach the lower 90s with a feels-like temperature of 100 to 105. Storms develop after the lunch hour and could contain gusty winds, heavy rain, and plenty of lightning. One or two storms may be on the stronger side into the evening hours.
In the tropics, Chantal made landfall as a tropical storm early Sunday morning. As it moved inland through the Carolinas, it brought flooding rains and gusty winds. Through Tuesday morning, it will bring more heavy rain, gusty winds, and rough surf to the East Coast before it finally moves away from land. Otherwise, the tropics are quiet and look to remain quiet through the next week.
Locally, we will see daily hit-and-miss storms develop during the afternoon hours. Temperatures each afternoon through next weekend will reach into the lower 90s.
