BJ’s New Summer Beer Lineup Includes a Chocolate Porter
BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse is known for two things: its beloved dessert pizookies and its delicious seasonal brews. Luckily, the chain has good news for fans of both, thanks to its new seasonal menu.
The chain announced that a slew of new brews, a smash burger, and a s'mores-inspired treat became available starting on June 26. The summer lineup includes a Hard Root Beer, Sweet Sin Chocolate Porter, Co-Hoperate Hazy Pils (a hybrid brew), an All-American Smash Burger, and the limited-time Graham Cracker S'mores Pizookie.
What's most intriguing about the menu is the chocolate porter inspired by the aforementioned s'mores pizookie (which consists of a Ghirardelli chocolate cookie base, graham cracker crumbles, toasted marshmallows, and two scoops of vanilla bean ice cream). The porter is crafted with real Ghirardelli chocolate, offering "notes of both spark chocolate and roasted coffee."

Per the press release, the Hard Root Beer carries flavors of "vanilla, licorice, sassafras, wintergreen, and molasses." You're able to add two scoops to the alcoholic drink to make it an "adult" root beer float.

The catch? Select treats are only available while supplies last, and you have to dine-in to order them at any BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse locations. The Sweet Sin Chocolate Porter, Hard Root Beer, and All-American Smash Burger will be added to the menu permanently. The burger consists of two smashed beef patties, American cheese, and BJ's signature sauce all wrapped in a house bun.
The restaurant has a never-ending lineup of new pizookie offerings, as the brand paired up with Snooki to release the Fryckle Pizookie (the flavor driven by fried pickles) earlier this year, and additionally launched a "nutty" Snickers Pizookie in April.
BJ's is just the latest in big franchises to drop new summer menu items. Starbuck's just released a Firework Frappuccino Blended Beverage, while Five Guys brought back the popular coffee milkshake mix-in after four years of disappearing off of menus.
