Flaming couch causes grass fire in Salem
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Firefighters responded to a flaming couch in Salem after callers reported the blaze had started to spread to a nearby field Sunday afternoon.
When crews arrived near Croisan Creek Road and Goodin Place, officials said it became a fast-moving grass fire that was getting close to an area of heavy brush and timber.
The crews were able to put out the fire before it spread. No injuries or property damage were reported.
“Their action prevented the fire from spreading to nearby vegetation and potentially escalating into a much larger incident,” Salem Fire said.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. An investigation is ongoing.
