Man dies after boating accident in Columbia County
CANAAN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 21-year-old man has died after a boating accident in Columbia County. New York State Police said the accident happened on July 4 on Queechy Lake in Canaan.
Police responded to the lake around 12:40 a.m. where they reportedly found a 16-foot Stratus bass boat that had crashed into the shoreline. Officials found that the boat, which was carrying three people, hit the shore, ejecting the 21-year-old.
The man was taken to Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.
