Laura Olson, Ken Paxton’s Ex-Mistress, Breaks Silence After His Divorce Announcement
The woman who had a long-term affair with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has broken her silence hours after the senatorial candidate announced he was divorcing his wife of 39 years.
In her filing, Angela Paxon alleged adultery on her estranged husband’s part while confirming the couple has been living apart since 2024.
Laura Olson appeared to be in a celebratory mood, as evidenced by her Instagram posts shortly after the news broke.
In her first post on Friday morning, the former aide to Texas State Sen. Donna Campbell showed a video of a DJ rocking out on the side of a Los Angeles street playing Missy Elliot’s hit “Lose Control” feat. Ciara and Fatman Scoop.
The second post was a meme from the account, RelatableGirlyFeed, that read: “Haven’t heard from u in 57 mins, u make sure u have a good rest of your life.” The post is set to the tune of SZA’s song “Snooze.”
The final clip is a live video of Lenny Kravitz’s playing his cover of The Guess Who’s “American Woman” alongside Prince.
On her Instagram bio, Olson writes: “You can’t always get what you want. But I can.”
Olson made headlines in 2020 amid an effort to impeach Paxton when it was revealed that she had been given a job working for real estate developer Nate Paul’s company. Paul was a major contributor to Olson’s campaign.
Paul admitted to authorities that he hired Olson, but denied that Paxton pressured him into doing so.
Olson ultimately did not have to testify in the impeachment hearing, despite showing up in court to do so. Both sides agreed her testimony was not necessary, CBS News reported at the time.
It emerged during the trial that Paxton told staff about his affair with Olson in 2018 and asked for their forgiveness, claiming the relationship was over.
One staffer later testified that they had seen Paxton with Olson in a hotel elevator in 2020. After telling a colleague, the colleague responded by saying, “Great, she’s back,” according to the CBS News report.
Just a few months ago, Paxton announced his plan to challenge Senator John Cornyn in the Republican primary in 2026.
In the wake of the announcement that he has been accused of adultery, the National Republican Senatorial Committee retweeted a message that read: “What Ken Paxton has put his family through is truly repulsive and disgusting. No one should have to endure what Angela Paxton has, and we pray for her as she chooses to stand up for herself and her family during this difficult time.”
