Police Reveal Findings of 'Human Skin Teddy Bear' Investigation
There was a "human skin teddy bear" found near a convenience store in California this past weekend that had plenty of people concerned.
This questionable-looking teddy bear was found outside of an AMPM store at a gas station in Victorville, California. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department received calls about potential human remains found near the 13600 block of Bear Valley Road.
A police spokesperson said the bear was taken by a coroner investigator. After further evaluation, it was determined that this bear was made out of latex. It's being sold online for roughly $165.
Robert Kelly of Dark Seed Creations has taken credit for creating this bear.
"Lol so about an hour ago I found out a news article in Victorville Ca has one of my skin bears used in a prank at a bus station there. My phone is dying from trying to keep up with answering everyone lol," Kelly wrote on Facebook. "So here is the basics. Yes I made the bear in the news video. Yes that's my etsy shop screenshotted on the news articles. Yes I did ship that bear to an etsy customer in Victorville CA last week. Yes you can still order one too."
Kelly told ABC7 Eyewitness News that he enjoyed the attention his work was getting, albeit he wasn't fully briefed on what went down at the gas station in Victorville.
"I guess I'd probably be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying it a little bit. I'm an independent artist...so, a little attention is sometimes good regardless of not being able to condone whatever," Kelly said. "I don't know if the guy broke any laws or [if] it was just a prank, but it looks like he definitely got some people riled up."
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department hasn't released additional information on this situation.
