Tom Holland Makes Big Promise About New 'Spider-Man' Film
Tom Holland is giddy. He's "over the moon," actually, and he has every good reason to be.
In a new interview with Variety, the 29-year-old actor shared why filming the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day gives him all the feels.
“I’m obviously over the moon and so excited. We were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID. We shot the entire film on stages. Now we’re really gonna lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow," he tells Variety.
"We are gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together. It’s gonna feel like making [‘Homecoming’] again,” he continued. “It’s been such a long time that I’ve done it that it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air. I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will offer Holland a first in more ways than one. Not only is he filming on location for the new film, he'll be working for the first time with a new director on the franchise. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is directing Holland's fourth iteration. He filmed the first three Spider-Man films under the direction of Jon Watts.

According to Variety, Holland teased the film as a "fresh start" during an appearance earlier this year at Cinema-Con.
“I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of ‘No Way Home,’ where Peter Parker sacrificed his identity to save the people that he loves most in the world,” Holland said at the time. “So, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say. That’s all I’ve been allowed to say, and I’m well over the hump of giving away spoilers. So don’t you worry: I’m not gonna do that today.”
Jon Bernthal is also appearing in the new film as the Punisher. Sadie Sink makes her Marvel debut, while Holland's girlfriend, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon are set to return as MJ and Ned.
The film is slated to hit theaters in July 2026.
