Pakistan’s FM Ishaq Dar arrives in Kabul for trilateral talks with Afghanistan and Uzbekistan to boost regional cooperation.
Pakistani Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in Kabul on Thursday afternoon to attend a trilateral meeting involving Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan.
According to Taliban officials, Dar will take part in the trilateral dialogue aimed at boosting regional cooperation and discussing trade, connectivity, and security.
Dar is accompanied by Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, and Mohammad Hanif Abbasi, the country’s Minister of Railways, indicating the significance of infrastructure and economic discussions on the agenda.
Earlier the same day, an Uzbek delegation led by Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov also arrived in Kabul, reinforcing Uzbekistan’s commitment to enhancing ties with both neighboring nations.
This meeting follows earlier trilateral summits held in Islamabad in May 2023 and in Kabul and Beijing during May 2025, reflecting the continuity of high-level regional engagement.
The trilateral platform aims to enhance regional connectivity through strategic railway and trade corridor development, including discussions on the Trans-Afghanistan Railway linking Uzbekistan and Pakistan via Afghanistan.
Beyond economic issues, the participants are expected to discuss border management, counterterrorism cooperation, and the evolving political landscape in Afghanistan, especially in the context of cross-border movements and stability.
