Beloved Local Restaurant Closing July 26 After 45 Years
It's never easy when a popular local restaurant has to shut down, particularly after more than four decades in business.
The Wee Blew Inn has been an institution in Venice, Florida for the last 45 years, serving breakfast and lunch and sometimes dinner to its loyal customer base. Sadly, the Wee Blew Inn's days are coming to an end.
In a Facebook post Tuesday, the restaurant revealed that it will close for good at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, which will be its last full day of service.
"With heavy hearts, we announce the closing of our doors," the post reads.
"The Wee Blew Inn has been a beloved landmark in Venice for over 45 years, and it’s incredibly hard to say goodbye. We want to express our deepest gratitude to all our loyal customers and dedicated employees who have supported us throughout our long journey. Many of you have treated this place like a second home—coming in for breakfast, lunch, and even dinner back in the day. We’re going to miss it just as much as you."
The Wee Blew Inn is open 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. The restaurant operates from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and is closed Sunday.
With less than two weeks remaining until it closes for good, the Wee Blew Inn is inviting longtime customers to stop in for a final meal or two.
"We’d love for you to stop by and share in our final days," the restaurant said in its farewell post. "Enjoy your favorite 'usual' meal, sip a cup of coffee from one of our brown mugs, listen to the familiar banter of the staff during the rush, admire the collage of fishing photos and humor on our walls, grab a T-shirt, and maybe share a memory or two with us."
