Chris Martin Perfectly Trolls Couple at Coldplay Show Day After Viral Astronomer CEO Video
The now-viral video of tech CEO Andy Byron and his Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot getting cozy at a Coldplay concert has taken the internet by storm. After first accidentally participating in the moment himself during the show, Coldplay's Chris Martin decided to make light of the situation during the band's latest tour stop in Boston.
After the camera zoomed in on a man and woman in the crowd,
“Ok now listen, are you two a couple? Are you two a legitimate couple?” he asked as the crowd erupted in laughter. After not getting a response, he followed up with “Ok, I’m just going to risk it," before launching into a performance of "Fix You."
The original moment has become meme fodder online, drawing responses from celebrities and even companies like Chipotle and the New York Department of Sanitation. Martin had been taken aback during the initial video when the pair, finding themselves suddenly on the Jumbotron at the concert, quick turned away from the camera and hid. The unexpected actions caused Martin to quip that they were "either having an affair or they're just really shy."
And while most have found humor in the situation, the ensuing media frenzy has sparked some debate about whether or not any of this was really our business to begin with.
Thus far, Byron, Cabot, and their company Astronomer have not commented on the moment, although the company has responded to debunk a false statement being circulated online. Men's Journal has reached out to Astronomer for comment on the situation.
