Stabbing investigation underway after SERT callout in Southeast Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A stabbing investigation is underway in Southeast Portland after police previously called in tactical and crisis negotiation teams to the area early Saturday afternoon.
Just after 12:30 p.m., officers originally responded to reports of the stabbing in the 6400 block of Southeast 143rd Court.
Police said they soon became concerned about active danger to people in the neighborhood, called in SERT and Crisis Negotiation Teams, then established a perimeter around the area for several blocks.
Some people in the area may have even heard something that sounded like an explosion, which police said was SERT breaking the home's door with explosive charges.
The search continued for a potential suspect in and around the home, then by around 2:30 p.m., officials said they cleared the house of any active threats.
Police further noted that, although the stabbing is currently under investigation, there is no active danger to the public and no arrests have been made.
However, officials say Southeast Foster Road is blocked between Southeast 142nd Avenue and Southeast 144th Lane for the duration of the on-scene investigation.
Anyone with further information on this incident is encouraged to contact Portland police.
