07/24/2025: Heat, Humidity Resume After Nice Hiatus
The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby:
Humidity continued to build overnight across much of the region, keeping many of us closer to 70 this time around as opposed to the 40- and 50-degree mornings from earlier this week. While the humidity won't always be sky-high through the entire 7-Day Forecast, dew points will always be high enough to prevent us from having another cool & refreshing morning like from earlier in the week through the end of the month.
Under a partly to mostly sunny sky coupled with dry conditions, temperatures will push or even exceed 90 degrees Thursday afternoon. There will also be a light breeze out of the southwest, at the very least acting like a natural fan.
With dew points climbing into the mid and upper 60s this afternoon, actual air temperatures at the valley floor in the lower 90s may feel like the mid 90s for a few hours. A Heat Advisory is in effect this afternoon for these areas in anticipation of such conditions.
Humidity will only continue its gradual ascent overnight. Even with a partly to mostly clear sky overnight, a south wind is going to keep things toasty into Friday morning, with widespread lows near & above the 70-degree mark on tap.
Friday will be just downright tropical with dew points expected to be well into the 70s. It's not all bad news for Friday, as a cold front will sink down from the north, bringing some relief to the oppressive humidity we will see tomorrow. The bad news though is that some of the scattered PM thunderstorms that will develop ahead of this front could have some strong to potentially damaging wind gusts attached to them. The SPC has placed much of the region in a Marginal Risk, so severe weather is not expected to be a widespread issue; rather, we all have a small chance for severe weather Friday afternoon.
High temps will climb well into the 80s to near 90, but Heat Advisories may once again be needed for the valley floor thanks to just how high the dew points will be.
Saturday is the nicer half of the weekend with a mix of clouds & sun, relatively lower humidity (compared to our incoming swampy Friday), and high temperatures once again well into the 80s. The overwhelming majority of available guidance is now keeping it totally dry, with better rain chances holding off for Sunday. Yes, we will encourage you to keep the umbrella handy for the second half of the weekend, but we also don't anticipate a total washout; rather, scattered showers & thunderstorms, particularly during the PM hours. The coverage of rainfall will, however, keep temperatures closer to normal in the low to mid 80s.
Monday looks dry with a fair amount of sun and temps near 90. A few t-storms may accompany the hot & humid weather Tuesday, but don't count on a storm - coverage does look isolated. A couple more showers are possible Wednesday as well, with temperatures starting to fall as we head towards the end of July.
