Details Emerging From Hulk Hogan's Tragic Death at 71
The wrestling world is reeling from the death of Hulk Hogan, who passed away earlier today at the age of 71.
Hogan had experienced some serious health issues lately, with his wife Sky Daily taking to Instagram last month to deny rumors that her husband was in a coma. According to TMZ, which broke the news of Hogan's passing, the Georgia-born entertainer died of cardiac arrest.
Pinellas County Fire and EMS were dispatched to Hogan's Clearwater, Florida home for an apparent cardiac arrest, per audio released by TMZ moments ago.
"We're told a slew of police cars and EMTs were parked outside Hogan's home ... and he was carried on a stretcher and into an ambulance," TMZ also wrote.
"Cops tell us officials responded to the call at 9:51 AM ... and Hogan was treated by Clearwater Fire & Rescue personnel before being taken to a nearby hospital."
Hogan was pronounced dead at the hospital. He is survived by his wife and his two children from his first marriage, Brooke and Nick.
An official ruling from a coroner is forthcoming on Hogan's death, but for now, this is the latest information, which indicates it was his heart that gave out.
Hogan underwent cervical surgery last month, his wife Sky confirmed, but she said the time his heart was "strong."
During his lengthy professional wrestling career, Hogan was a star in WWE and WCW as a multi-time champion in the former and one of the founders of nWo in the latter.
Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice and also had stints in the American Wrestling Association and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away,” WWE wrote on X/Twitter. “One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans."
