Beacon man charged with vehicular assault after multi-car crash
FISHKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Beacon man faces multiple charges after a four-car crash on State Route 9 in Fishkill Wednesday night. According to New York State Police, Timothy Henion, 33, is accused of crashing into multiple cars, causing injury.
Troopers said they responded to reports of a serious car crash involving multiple cars near 107 State Route 9 in Fishkill at around 9:23 p.m. Upon arrival, they found four cars involved with multiple people injured.
According to troopers, a preliminary investigation determined a white 2000 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck, being driven by Henion, was heading south on State Route 9 when it crossed into the northbound lane and hit three cars.
Troopers said the driver of the second car was uninjured, but the passengers in the third and fourth cars were transported to the hospital. According to troopers, the driver of the third car, a 61-year-old woman, was trapped inside with serious injuries and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center.
Three juveniles in the fourth car were transported to Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Westchester Medical Center for minor injuries. Henion was also transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and was later placed under arrest.
He was charged with the following:
- Vehicular Assault in the second degree, a class E felony
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree, a class E felony
- Driving while intoxicated- first offense, an unclassified misdemeanor
- Multiple vehicle and traffic violations
According to state police, on Thursday morning, Henion was arraigned in the Town of Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 secured bond, or $499,000 partially secured bond.
A preliminary hearing is set for July 30 at 9 a.m. The investigation remains ongoing.
