M25 traffic stopped after crash closes motorway near Heathrow
Drivers face long delays on the UK’s busiest motorway after a crash near Heathrow Airport.
A stretch of the M25 was closed in both directions after a crash involving a car and a motorbike.
The collision happened between junctions J15 (M4) and J14 (Airport Way/Heathrow).
The motorbike rider was rushed to the hospital with potentially life-changing injuries, a Met Police spokesperson told Metro.
Long traffic delays remain in the area after the incident at about 3pm, and travellers heading to Heathrow were told to use other routes.
National Highways said: ‘Met Police is working on the scene.
‘Please allow alternative routes if travelling to Heathrow Airport this afternoon.
‘Diversions to follow.’
The motorway has since reopened, but there are still delays.
Queues snarled back to Staines in the south and towards Denham and Gerrards Cross in the north.
Traffic is also building up on the M40 and A40 towards London.
The crash comes as almost 100,000 people are expected at the Oasis reunion concert at Wembley Stadium today.
Concertgoers have been urged to use trains, the Tube and coaches to reach the stadium in northwest London as roads near the venue will be closed.
